For recordings, we've collected the current issues that may arise when dealing with different states and counties.

Below is the list of the Southwestern states and their

special requirements.

Arizona: Maricopa is particular about margins being apparent. Deeds have a $2 flat transfer tax fee.


New Mexico: Deeds are $25, with no transfer tax on a recording.


Oklahoma: Mortgage recordings are taxed and must have a tax affidavit as part of the mortgage: link to tax affidavit.

Proof of purchase price must accompany deeds for documentary stamp tax calculations.


Texas: Last 4โ€ required to be blank on documents in most counties to make room for recording stamp; deeds do not appear to have a tax for recording.
